J’Accuse of February 4 on the re-election of Mattarella as president of the Italian republic

My  J'Accuse in diretta Facebook:

A president like Mattarella who has turned eighty years old: he has repeatedly declared to the press and in front of the country that he does not want to be re-elected for another seven years, very long given his age, and unnatural, as we do not know what can happen between now and seven years . In short, his re-election was a real political and institutional disaster that we have witnessed. This delegitimized political class, emptied of all reason and consensus, no longer knows which saint to turn to in order to avoid the country's financial and institutional bankruptcy. It is clear, however, that in this situation there is also the responsibility of President Mattarella himself, who must have been clear since the failure of the two yellow-green and yellow-red governments. The political scenario was very clear to him when he called Mr. Draghi to lead the government of "national salvation", in a serious and dramatic moment for the country. This choice, that is to say, the continuation of the current legislature, had to be conditioned on the passing of an electoral law that avoids the serious political instability that characterizes it. Instead, in order to get by, dedicating all the attention to the financial and health aspects, what had to have the utmost attention and urgency was neglected. The approval of a new electoral law is an ineluctable and equal fact, from which this political class is evading itself with all the reasons of a political, ideological and merely selfish nature, sending the country to ruin. It is precisely the lack of a political majority in parliament that has caused this chaos. President Mattarella knew this and could not fail to know. He also probably knew that no minority in parliament would be able to elect the new president. He was the tip of the balance, because this parliament had to be dissolved when it could be done. But this same serious responsibility also falls on the secretaries of the parties who do not want to change the electoral law and continue to veto the majority electoral systems, proportional with barriers, etc ...

Obviously, this profound division of parties, as well as the bitter clash that characterizes the arenas reflects the profound ethical-political crisis we are witnessing. People are nauseated and helpless. Italians remain at the mercy of these tensions and are more resigned than angry - When will the time of revolts and barricades come? - Do not feel represented by political actors placed there by party secretaries, in turn, trumpeted by other conspiracies. The representatives themselves, who are the Italians, have no connection or receive the reports of their representatives, who often change their shirts and parties, offering themselves to the highest bidder. In short, it sucks. Do you see how urgent is the passing of an electoral law?

In recent days I happened to mention Meloni in my J’Accuse live on Facebook. Honestly, it seems to me that the head of the Brothers of Italy, while not sharing her history and her ideas, is the only one to have understood and reported on the seriousness of the situation that saw Mattarella re-elected. "The Italians are not represented!

It is clear how the leader herself said: they bartered a few months of legislature for the re-election of a man who did not want her. More than a failure, it was a demonstration of political incapacity. If the so-called PNRR must be managed with these subdivision logics, moreover like the electoral law itself in the pipeline, we can already understand what color our future will be ...

Who knows? perhaps we wanted to avoid the elections because we already know that the country will end up in the hands of Meloni, given that all the polls are giving it as the promotional party of Italy, which the European Union does not want, France will not like, not to mention the Jewish community and financial markets. But democracy has a high price: respecting the rules and rights of citizens and minorities. To the Brothers of Italy the choice to reform their camp in order not to give political or historical justifications to their political enemies. You have in your assets the turning point of Fiuggi. To you the choice....
