J’Accuse of February 25, 2025 rare earths and burnt earths, the Ukrainian and European defeat

Who could have imagined just a few weeks ago such a reversed and unlikely scenario in Ukraine. It was all expected but the actors and their scripts are almost Hollywood fiction with a Trump determined supporter of peace but also of the idea unacceptable on the level of reason and international law, namely that Zalensky, as a severance package from the war scenario, must sign an Agreement that grants the Americans the Ukrainian rare earths, in order to return to America all the billions of dollars, estimated at three hundred and fifty, paid by his predecessor Biden, advocate and supporter of the all-out war against Putin's Russia. All this as if the alternation of Democrats and Republicans in the White House, totally in disagreement on their vision of the world and their very conception of democracy, of relations with traditional allies and of the same international and regional organizations that support and administer the current political order, did not have a responsibility for the Americans themselves, the sole decision makers of their destiny and their national and security strategies, but fell on those who suffered them and on whom they were imposed now with threats and now with economic and military sanctions. Do we remember well Biden's visit to Poland, at the beginning of the Ukrainian conflict and the insults made to Putin as Murderer and criminal for having invaded Donbass? The war, in truth, should never have broken out and continued without the absolute will of the White House and of Biden himself who wanted it, excluding any attempt to resolve the issue with dialogue with Moscow. Today, after three years of disasters and carnage suffered by the Ukrainian and Russian people, we are faced with the Trumpian Agreement for the sale of rare earths, agreed with Putin to end the conflict and bring Russia back into international forums. The problem, however, is that this solution of plundering the rare earths after having burned the earth does not honor any of the parties, in our opinion. It does not honor the Russians who are forced to make this transaction to the detriment of their natural and historical interests in the area in question, after having paid a colossal tribute in terms of human and economic losses. It does not honor the United States of America, because this is not the way to make America great aganin, but it is a way that reminds us of the Wild West and the law of the strongest that imposes itself and oppresses the weakest. Furthermore, the Agreement with Zelensky is illegitimate because his mandate has expired and he cannot decide on resources that do not belong to him. It does not honor Europe, because in fact it lost the war and every opportunity to resolve the conflict through mediation, also disqualifying itself as a possible mediator in the post-war negotiations. In this, the pursuit of a political and military role by Paris, Berlin and London seems like the last cannon shot that in our opinion will only produce further damage and bloodshed that would most likely cause a world conflict to break out. The current situation, in light of the changes that have occurred in American foreign policy, marks an epochal turning point and an upheaval in international balances that will not remain without consequences nor will it turn green the lands that were burned and poisoned by the poisons of weapons and the corpses of soldiers who died for lost causes and are now sold off by those who wanted those wars and now expect to be repaid with the precious and coveted rare earths.
