What effect does it have on the fact that an American Vice President, of the supposed first democracy in the Western world, just elected, went on purpose, on February 14 of this month, to Munich in Germany, purposely ignoring the current Chancellor, Olaf Scholz, in order to give all the moral and political support to the leader of the neo-Nazi party Alice Weidel, in view of the imminent German political elections? It is a real cold shower for European democracies, but also a clear signal of the times that are changing, trashing all the values ​​​​of freedom and respect for human rights defended until now. It is a paradox that is not immediately understood as a normal fact by anyone with a historical knowledge of the facts and of the same collective psychic state that can lead individuals and communities and elected institutions to deny even their own history, adopting that of the racist and fascist values ​​​​that we had fought for decades. How can a ruling class of a country, a bulwark and leader of democracies, overturn the destinies of the world and go against its own history and the very ethnic and political components that compose it. The fact of exhorting and supporting extremist and reactionary forces in Europe, those same forces that have identical values ​​to those of the Nazi-Fascist Axis, which had caused the greatest war that humanity has ever known and which are in reality the heirs and continuators of those rivalries and ideological and nationalistic follies that had inflamed and divided the old continent not only in the first half of the twentieth century, but even in past centuries when European nationalisms were always engaged in political and territorial wars. The truth is that we are in a key period of history not only in Europe but also in the world. The re-affirmation, through democratic means, of an American president who has imperial ideas and projects that are antithetical to those of his predecessors: of a census-based and fiscal America with regard to the management and maintenance of world order, says a lot about the destabilization that will loom before us in the months and years to come. This approach is not understood when one examines actions such as that of Vance, Vice President, who goes to incite the German Nazis against the federal state or those of Musk who gathers all the fascists of Europe to create an axis of a “great Europe” to be exploited in the new Trumpian policies in Europe and in the world. It is a paradox and more than anything a dangerous game that is not understood but whose consequences will be more disastrous than the absurd Ukrainian war itself. Precisely this conflict that the European and American Democrats, led by former President Biden, Uncle Joe and the current European leadership itself, whether resigned or not, has helped decisively and more than any cultural or political phenomenon, the return of European nationalists and Nazi-fascists. The defeat is threefold: it is a historical defeat because the re-affirmation of Nazi-fascist forces represents a moral, cultural, human and political failure; it is a military defeat because this war is the fruit of those expansionist and hegemonic ideas that have been clearly defeated by Putin's Russia and finally it is an ideal defeat because the world we will find ourselves facing will be a world of ogres who, once they have eaten the weakest, will begin to make war among themselves and will also perish of the same hatred that created them. In a few years, Trump and his followers will no longer be in power in America, by virtue of the same inevitable and dramatic transformations that will occur in the same multi-ethnic and pluralist American society, but we will have before us the social, political, economic and moral ruins that will be left by their policies. The war in Ukraine had to be stopped from its inception. The idea, as I have repeatedly reiterated, of an all-out war had exasperated the people, the economies of Western countries and helped extremists to grow in consensus against the governments and the democratic and bourgeois parties in power in the main European governments.
